RACING Driver and team owner Dan Kirby has tragically died.

When did Dan Kirby die?
Dan Kirby passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.
His cause of death remains unknown at the time of writing.
Following his passing, a spokesperson for the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) took to social media and wrote: ”We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former BTCC driver and team owner, Dan Kirby.
“A hugely popular figure the paddock, Dan will be sorely missed.
“The BTCC community sends condolences to Dan’s wife Beth, his two daughters, wider family, friends and colleagues.”
Tributes were also paid by those in the racing community.
Fellow driver Michael Crees took to social media to pay tribute to a ”good pal, great dad, and a husband”.
He wrote: “I can’t remember when I felt this upset, but Dan, you was a good pal, great dad and a husband.
“I’m going to miss our chats about cars I was never going to buy, and also glad I got to spend quality time on our little trip away in the camper.”
The TCR UK said: “We are deeply saddened to report on the sudden passing of TCR UK driver Dan Kirby. Everyone involved at TCR UK & Maximum Motorsport sends their deepest sympathies and condolences to Dan’s family as well as friends & colleagues.”
And the Laser Tools Racing team penned: “Our thoughts are with Beth, Dan’s two daughters and all their family and friends.
”Dan was a huge part of our BTCC journey and he will be sorely missed.”
Who was Dan Kirby?
Dan Kirby was a racing driver and team owner, who founded the Trade Price Cars Racing team in Chelmsford and was a familiar face on the touring car circuit.
The team competed in the 2019 and 2020 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship Seasons.
The Essex-based racing driver also ran a used car business, before taking the driver’s seat in 2020 with Power Maxed Racing.
In 2021, Dan finished third in the TCR-UK Touring Car Championship at Donington Park.
He competed in the opening two rounds of this year’s TCR UK championship but left ahead of the third event in June.
Was Dan Kirby married and did he have children?
As mentioned above, according to a statement shared by the BTCC on social media, Dan Kirby was married to wife Beth.
The racing driver also leaves behind two daughters.
