The final day of MLB’s 2022 season is upon us and that gives us one last shot at bagging some prop picks before playoffs begin.

The pregame narrative: Rafael Devers has been on fire since September, Domingo German should cruise against a lineup that can’t hit righties and Shohei Ohtani looks to bookmark another historic season with a bang.

MLB prop picks

Best Bet : Devers over 1.5 total bases (+115)

It’s been a rare down year for the Red Sox but Devers has still performed like an all-world talent in spite of his team’s overall record.

He ranks in the top 30 in batting average (.295), home runs (27), RBI (88) and OPS (.880), with the latter being the eighth-best mark in baseball.

Devers would have likely contended for several awards, too, had it not been for his disastrous August when he struggled to produce coming off the IL. But when the calendar changed to September, Devers caught fire again.

He’s slashed .333/.422/.485 since Sept. 1 with nine doubles and two home runs. He’s also racked up five hits in his last three contests and will be going against a Rays team that’s already clinched their playoff spot.

Josh Fleming makes what can be considered a spot start for Tampa Bay today. He’s appeared sparingly in the majors this season, holding a 6.23 ERA over 30.1 IP.

Devers has also roughed up Fleming in their brief encounters, going 7-for-11 with a pair of extra-base hits. Expect Devers to clear this prop against a Rays team that’s not putting its best foot forward.

Key stat: Devers is averaging 2.05 total bases over 140 games this season.

Quick picks

Domingo German over 5.5 strikeouts (+125): German missed the first half of this season due to injury but has settled in nicely before the Yankees playoff run. He’s cleared this line in two of his last three starts.

More importantly, the Texas Rangers haven’t touched right-handed pitching lately. Texas ranks last in the league with a 29.4% strikeout percentage versus RHP over the past 30 days.

Shohei Ohtani over 1.5 total bases (+148): We’re going to roll with Ohtani one last time in 2022. He’s pitching today but we’re going to focus on the bat in this prop.

Ohtani has slashed .305/.348/.514 over the past 30 days with 13 XBH.

He’s also going up against Ken Waldichuk, who’s gotten shelled since his promotion from Triple-A in September. Waldichuk has started six games, given up five homers, and holds a 6.18 ERA.
