A MOTORIST filmed the crazy moment they drove down a bike path after being enraged at a cyclist who was apparently hogging the road.
The shocking video shows a vehicle accelerating towards the cyclist before swerving onto a grass verge and then mounting the path.
After narrowly avoiding the innocent cyclist and roadside posts, the motorist then swerves back onto the tarmac to complete the dangerous undertaking manoeuvre.
The popular video’s poster captioned it “If you use my lane, I will use your lane” and has been contacted for comment.
And the footage, which appears to be filmed by the silent driver, has been shared more than 500 times on Facebook and racked up more than 1,300 likes and reactions.
Many slammed the furious driver as a “complete fool” and told them “please don’t breed” as their actions on the tree-lined road “could have killed someone”.
However, others claim the biker should have used the path rather than the single-lane carriageway and found the video hilarious.
A Reddit post sharing the driver’s baffling stunt, shot in an unknown location, was captioned “pro revenge method for when an idiot cyclist hogs a car lane”.
One Facebook user commented: “I can’t believe someone thinks that’s sane.”
Another simply said: “The problem is the guy driving a car on the pavement. He should have his licence suspended.”
While a third agreed and said to the driver: “Please don’t breed.”
Another pointed out that the difference between breaking the rules was literally a matter of life and death.
They commented: “The difference between what he did and you did is that you could have killed someone for being on the pavement.
“You would have only been inconvenienced for a moment as you safely went around the cyclist.”
But others argued back, with one saying: “Riding bikes on the road is insane with the way drivers are nowadays.
“Why can’t he be on the smaller path? It was built for them after all.”
Another commented: “If cyclists use the road they should pay insurance and registration fees and have a little number plate under their seat. Or better still the number across their lycra top.”
The UK’s Highway Code says it is against the law to ride a bike on the pavement and using cycle lanes is ‘advised depending on experience and the situation’ but is not required by law.
