‘Profound stupidity!’ Furious WWE fans lash out after Roman Reigns beats Cody Rhodes in stunning WrestleMania main event

WWE fans tore into the main event of WrestleMania that saw Roman Reigns beat crowd favourite Cody Rhodes.

Reigns successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in controversial fashion against Rhodes at the SoFi Stadium in Hollywood.

The two rivals shone bright in a bout that ended with the champion’s cousin Solo Sikoa taking the challenger out with a Samoan Spike before the titleholder delivered a Spear for the win.

The Tribal Chief has been world champion for a whopping 945 days, which means he is well on his way to 1,000 days with the titles around his waist.

But many members of the WWE Universe aren’t happy about that as they wanted Rhodes to end The Head of the Table’s reign after his emotional return to the company last year.

The American Nightmare’s first stint ended on a sour note in 2016 and went on to revolutionise the sport with amazing work in the independent circuit that led to the creation of rival company AEW.

The 37-year-old won wrestling fans’ hearts with his underdog story and a great number backed him to triumph at WrestleMania.

However, Reigns prevailed once more and that infuriated Rhodes’ supporters who took to Twitter to put WWE on full blast.

One fan tweeted: “I am in disbelief, what the F**K just happened?!”

Another posted: “How Cody Rhodes doesn’t defeat Roman Reigns is beyond me.

“WWE script writers better have the greatest plot of all time building up cause what the f**k.”

A third commented: “Cody Rhodes truly should’ve won tonight but … I guess the suits behind the scenes have a different plan in mind for Roman Reigns moving forward.”

This fan said; “I feel soo bad! @WWE sacrifice Cody Rhodes for Roman Reigns to get to 1,000 days as champion!! F**k this!!”

That one wrote: “Talk of heartbreaking images. Cody Rhodes deserves better. Horrible ending to an amazing build up.”

“The profound stupidity of that decision to put Roman Reigns over once again simply befuddles the mind.

“Cody Rhodes was over at a major superstar level. It had to be tonight.”
