One lucky punter might emerge $3 million richer this Thursday night if they can pick the Powerball’s winning numbers.
The draw will be announced at 8.30pm Thursday, with tickets sales cut off an hour beforehand.
If someone scores the prize, they will be the 11th Powerball division one winner this year.
Last week, a Melbourne dad working as a cleaner scored a whopping $80 million jackpot in the Powerball.
The more modest prize of $3 million was last won by a single entrant in November 2018.
A Western Australian mum from Kalgoorlie made the long 600km journey to Perth to claim her prize.
The mother worked at the Department of Education and realised she’d won as she was heading out to start her job.

“I was stunned, but I was also running late for work,” the 2018 winner told The Lott at the time.
“I said to my kids: ‘I better go because I’m going to be late.’
“I’m not sure how I even got there safely with my ticket. My colleague triple checked it with me and was so excited for us.”
The middle-aged woman said they wouldn’t be splurging their cash, instead paying off their bills and setting their family up to live stress-free.
“We’re pretty down to earth, so this won’t change who we are,” she said.
“My husband has always wanted a little farm so we can make that a reality now.
“I’m really looking forward to helping out my stepfather in his later years – so he can live comfortably.
“I really love my job and we’re both happy doing what we’re doing.
“I’m still a bit stunned. I know it won’t sink in until I see those zeros in my bank account.”
Huge windfall for dad hit by pandemic
While $3 million is a huge windfall to be sure, last week one fortunate Aussie pocketed a division one prize of $80 million in the Powerball.
A middle-aged dad who had lost his job to the coronavirus pandemic and was working as a cleaner won the lot.
“I am so excited. I checked my ticket late last night. I couldn’t sleep after that!” the Melbourne cleaner told The Lott last week.
“I lost my job during one of the many lockdowns here in Melbourne. We had only just bought a home and didn’t see it coming.
“I’ve been working as a cleaner ever since to make ends meet.
“Like for so many people, these lockdowns have been really tough for our family.
“But I’ve always said, you’ve just gotta keep trying. Now, look what’s happened.”
The man had a one in 134 million chance of picking the right combination of numbers.
An estimated one in four Aussies purchased a ticket for the draw.
In previous $80 million Powerball draws, ticket sales peaked just after 5pm on the day of the draw, with more than 4000 tickets selling each minute.
