Paul Gallen certainly didn’t mince his words during Monday’s press conference alongside Australian heavyweight champion Justis Huni.

Former rugby league star Paul Gallen has labelled Australian heavyweight champion Justis Hunt a “coward” ahead of their highly-anticipated pay-per-view bout.

Gallen and Huni will face off at Sydney’s ICC Exhibition Centre on Wednesday — the same venue where Huni defeated Christian Tsoye last month.

The 22-year-old Huni will be thrust into the bright lights of pay-per-view for the first time, while the 39-year-old Gallen has already been a main event drawcard with fights against Barry Hall and Lucas Browne.

But while the Origin great has repeatedly said he’s purely in the sport to make as much money as he can, Huni is eyeing Olympic glory and a run at the world titles.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the undefeated Gallen blasted Huni and his camp for overlooking the threat he provides.

“They’re No. 1 concern is the Olympics,” Gallen told reporters.

“I’m here to do everything I can to make sure you don’t go to the Olympics. Whether it’s break your jaw, break your face or break your arm, I don’t care what it is. I’m going to do everything I can to break something in you so you don’t go to the Olympics.

“That dream since you’ve been seven years old is going to be f***ed.

“I don’t care what the referee does. I’m going to try and ruin your dream.

“All I do is find that chink in the armour, and I expose it.

“I’m going to do everything I can to finish him. I’m determined to hurt him.”

The former Cronulla Sharks captain also bluntly called Huni a “f***ing coward” for withdrawing from the amateur world championships semi-finals in 2019.

When Huni’s father and trainer attempted to intervene, Gallen quipped: “Rockie, you know what the most embarrassing thing is? A father trying to live their failed sporting career through their son. So sit there and shut up.”

Event promoter Dean Lonergan was asked for a one-word assessment of each fighter — he labelled Huni “Winx” and Gallen “Eeyore”.

Huni copped some criticism for seemingly running down the clock during last month’s bout against Tsoye, but the Queenslander promised that wouldn’t be the case on Wednesday.

“If the opportunity’s there to end the fight, I’m definitely going to jump on it this time and lift up the intensity,” he said.

“It’s going to be a good, competitive show.”

Gallen reportedly stands to pocket upwards of $1.275 million for the blockbuster showdown, while Huni will receive a substantially lower $225,000 cut of the $1.5 million windfall.
