Little Britain reunion as Matt Lucas celebrates birthday with David Williams years after their fall out
Matt Lucas and David Walliams were kings of TV comedy after hit series Little Britain catapulted them into the spotlight gaining international success. At the height of their fame the comedy duo famously fell out and didn’t speak for eight years after feud saw them go their separate ways professionally.
But it seems the pair have finally put their differences behind them after Matt Lucas shared a sweet snap of him alongside his comedy partner celebrating his 48th birthday.
The photo, posted by David on his Instagram and Twitter, showed the Britain’s Got Talent judge presenting Matt with a birthday cake for his special day with “Cake!” written in icing, as a nod to Matt’s Great British Bake Off sketch on Little Britain.
David captioned the pic on Instagram: “Happy Birthday @realmattlucas” to which Matt replied to David in the comments: “Thank you so much. I love the cake! Ca-ake! Xxxx”

Famous friends and fans sent well wishes and gushed over seeing the comedy pairing back together again. The pair stopped working with each other in 2011, amid reports that their friendship had became strained. In his autobiography Little Me, Matt. Lucas wrote that they were “often at loggerheads”.
Tensions rose between the pair in 2005 during their Little Britain Live tour, leading to a spectacular fight backstage one night with the pair “suddenly hurling obscenities at each other,” Matt said. While they managed to smooth things over, they clashed again on the Australian leg of the tour in 2007 and despite making their second show, Come Fly With Me, the partnership dissolved in 2011.

Matt took a swipe at David in his book, writing: “Walliams has now sold so many children’s books he can probably buy his own private jet, all decked out in pink, with a river inside it for him to swim up.”
While David, who was asked about his relationship with Matt on Radio 4, replied: “We’re very different people and probably want different things and had different working methods.” But it seems the pair had a change of heart during the pandemic, and were pictured together walking dogs, which gave hope of a long hoped for reconciliation.
Later it was revealed that Matt and David were finally started to work together again in 2019, creating one-off special episode of Little Britain called Little Brexit which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4
