“Voltes V: Legacy,” the local adaptation of the Japanese anime “Chodenji Machine Voltes V,” is down to its last week on air, as the show’s final episode will air on Sept. 8.
GMA confirmed that “Voltes V: Legacy” is bidding farewell to viewers by the end of the week through a series of character posts on its official Facebook page, featuring Miguel Tanfelix, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, Raphael Landicho, Ysabel Ortega, Dennis Trillo, Martin del Rosario, and Liezel Lopez, among others.
“Be prepared for the final battle of liberation! Get ready for the EPIC FINALE WEEK of #VoltesVLegacy as we approach the #V5LegacyRoadToVictory,” its caption read.
Tanfelix also admitted that saying goodbye to “Voltes V: Legacy” gives him “mixed emotions,” saying that it has been a “big chapter” of his life.
“Nag-start kami sa lock-in, may quarantine pa, ang daming ginastos para maitawid ang taping during the pandemic. And now, nag-end na ang isang malaking chapter ng buhay ko. Nakakalungkot, but excited ako na makita nila ang bigger picture ng pinaghirapan namin,” he said in a release.
(We started having lock-in taping during quarantine. The team spent a lot of money for taping to push through during the pandemic. And now, a big chapter of my life will end. It makes me sad, but I’m excited for viewers to see the fruit of our hard work.)
Meanwhile, show director Mark Reyes said that while some parts “could have [been] improved,” he was nonetheless “proud” of the show.
“We’re happy with what we’ve accomplished. Nothing is perfect — we could have improved on a lot of things and added more things to the story, but we have limited time already,” he said. “But for the bigger picture, it’s overwhelming that not only in the Philippines but global ang reactions. It’s very touching. That’s the biggest achievement.”
The Kapuso adaptation, which aired in May of this year, was described by Reyes as a project that is “100% Filipino made” including its production and videographics team.
The filmmaker also revealed during the show’s press conference that production kicked off in 2020, although its concept had been pitched to GMA’s executives in 2014.
