Sony Santa Monica Studio has deployed God of War Ragnarok Update 05.03, packing various fixes and nerfing the Tyr boss fight in the free Valhalla DLC.

The free rogue-like Valhalla expansion was released last week, packing an endgame challenge that, according to the expansion’s director, none of the development team had completed. Fast forward one week, and we now have an update for both the main game and Valhalla that addresses several annoying issues that players have encountered. In addition, this update reduces the difficulty of the first Týr fight on the ‘Show Me Will’ difficulty setting, increases the difficulty for some arena challenges, and more. Players will also be happy to learn that this brand-new patch contains various balance updates and tweaks. Also, the update includes some UI/UX improvements alongside fixes for crashes as well as a memory leak on PS4.

We suggest reading the full patch notes for this new update here, as released by Santa Monica Studio. If enabled, this update will be downloaded and installed automatically on your console. On X, the studio warns PS5 players to fully update both the main game and Valhalla before accessing the game again.

God of War Ragnarok and the free Valhalla expansion are available worldwide now for both PS4 and PS5. Here’s what we wrote about 2022’s God of War Ragnarok in our launch review last year:

Besides that, every other story in God of War Ragnarok is masterfully crafted to fit into a greater and bigger scheme. Each character we encountered during our journey had something to tell, from the co-protagonists to the different inhabitants of the Nine Realms. The plot has its own complexity that never feels like too much has been added to the game, but instead, it gives the impression that nothing has been left behind, unexplored. From the main path to secondary quests, there is so much to learn about friends, allies, and enemies, which is undoubtedly impressive considering the vast number of characters that God of War Ragnarok presents along the way. Nothing ever feels out of place or rushed, and every little thing just has its space in the story.
