MANILA, Philippines — More screening schedules were announced for applicants of The Miss Philippines Culture and Heritage Celebration and the Mister Pilipinas Worldwide competition, extending the period of application to two more weeks from the original four-week window.

This will be the first edition of The Miss Philippines. However, Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup-Lee had already crowned 2023 Miss Supranational first runner-up Pauline Amelinckx as their first titleholder who will crown the winner in October. The contest will choose the country’s representatives to the 2024 Miss Supranational and 2025 Miss Charm pageants.

Amenlickx has just celebrated her 28th birthday on Aug. 26. “Life is always worth celebrating,” she said in a social media post. “Life is already beautiful, but it’s the people who are in it that make it even more beautiful,” she added.

The Mister Pilipinas Worldwide contest, meanwhile, will have its second staging this year, which will determine who 2023 Mister Supranational semifinalist Johannes Rissler’s national successor will be. The competition will also proclaim the country’s next representatives to some of the most prestigious international male searches, such as Manhunt International Male Supermodel and Mister Global.

The extension of the application period was posted on the social media pages of the two competitions, their affiliate pageant the Miss Universe Philippines, as well as on the accounts of The Filipino Festival on Aug. 27. The original deadline of applications for the two national competitions was on Aug. 26.

The extension was made “to accommodate applicants from the provinces and from Filipino communities all over the world,” the social media post mentioned. The additional dates are Sept. 2, and 9, and screenings will still be conducted at the Enderun Coworking Estancia at the South Wing of Estancia Mall in Pasig City, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Attractive prizes

Organizers have also announced that as part of their prizes, the winners in the two national competitions will bring home Wuling Mini Electric Vehicles, touted as “user-friendly, rechargeable, and cost-effective,” and helps support the local economy “by reducing reliance on foreign fuel—a statement of your commitment to a brighter and greener future.”

Applicants to The Miss Philippines must be single, and between 18 and 32 years old. Mister Pilipinas Worldwide, meanwhile, accepts Filipino citizens between 18 and 35 years old who are not shorter than 5’8” in height. For more information about the screenings and for other inquiries, visit the two competitions’ official social media accounts, or send an e-mail to [email protected].

The two national competitions will serve as back-to-back culminating events for the first-ever The Filipino Festival, a month-long celebration of the country’s culture and heritage through “The Filipino Food Fest,” “The Filipino Arts and Crafts Fest,” “The Filipino Music Fest,” “The Filipino Fashion Fest,” and “The Filipino Film Fest.”

Fashion designers, filmmakers, musicians, culinary enthusiasts, and merchants of Filipino-made products who are interested in taking part in The Filipino Festival’s various activities may visit its official social media pages, or contact Empire Philippines by sending an e-mail at [email protected].
