Fans of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” which stars Park Eun-bin and Kang Tae-oh, can finally rejoice as the hit K-drama will be getting a season two, although production will reportedly begin in 2024.

Screenwriter Moon Ji-won has signed a contract with the K-drama’s production company ASTORY to create a script for the show’s second season, according to South Korean media outlet JTBC. It can be noted that Moon wrote the script for its first installment.

While reports have been confirmed, ASTORY confirmed that the contracted screenwriter wouldn’t be able to write the script immediately due to her upcoming film “Deaf Boys” of which she serves as the director.

“We signed a contract with writer Moon Ji-won to write ‘Woo Young-woo 2’ last year. Since writer Moon Ji-won is busy preparing for [her film], it is not possible to write the script right away,” the company told Korean media outlet Dispatch in a follow-up report.

The production company then said the K-drama is currently at its “internal development stage,” but that the casting of its original lead stars “hasn’t been decided yet.”

“We think she will be able to start preparing the script in earnest after she wraps up her film at the beginning of next year,” ASTORY added, according to a Soompi translation.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” tells the story of autistic lawyer Woo Young-woo (Park Eun-bin) as she starts her legal career at a reputable firm. She soon crosses paths with litigation employee Lee Jun-ho (Kang Tae-oh), and they fall in love along the way.

The hit K-drama earned Park the Daesang or Grand Prize at the Baeksang Arts Awards in April 2023, while the series’ director, Yoo In-shik, was named as Best Director.  /ra
