The Edmonton Oilers prevailed in a must-win Game 6 on the road to push their series against the Los Angeles Kings to Game 7.
The pregame narrative: The Oilers return to Rogers Place for the final game of their series against the Kings. There’s certainly a lot of pressure on Edmonton’s side to advance to the semi-finals. The Oilers were listed as favourites to win the series at the outset, and the team has won just one playoff series since taking Connor McDavid first overall in 2015.
Here are our three best Kings vs. Oilers picks for Game 7.
Kings vs. Oilers picks overview
- Over 6.5 goals (+112)
- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins over 2.5 shots (-114)
- Leon Draisaitl to score 2+ points (+143)
Kings vs. Oilers picks
Best bet: Over 6.5 goals (+112)
There’s some really nice value on the over in Game 7 at plus-money odds.
The over has hit in three of the six games in this series so far and in two of the three games played in Edmonton. Game 2 was the only game at Rogers Place where the over didn’t come through, and the Oilers won that game 6-0.

These two teams have also been very active in the offensive zone. Edmonton’s 3.56 expected goals per 60 at 5v5 rank second in the postseason while Los Angeles’ 2.96 expected goals per 60 at 5v5 sit fifth, according to Natural Stat Trick.
It’s also worth noting that both goalies have been noticeably worse when the series has shifted to Alberta. Mike Smith has posted a .943 save percentage on the road compared to a .917 save percentage at home. Jonathan Quick owns a .917 save percentage at Crypto.com Arena but that number drops to .874 in Edmonton.
There are a lot of trends from this series that point toward the over being in play for Game 7.
Key stat: The 30.91 combined 5v5 high-danger chances per 60 between the Kings and Oilers are the most of any series.

Nugent-Hopkins over 2.5 shots (-114): There’s some great value on this line as Nugent-Hopkins has been peppering Quick in this series. He’s posted 18 shots and has topped this total in five of the six games. The only contest Nugent-Hopkins didn’t reach this total in was Game 2 and that was the lone outing in this series where he played fewer than 17 minutes of ice time.
Draisaitl to score 2+ points (+143): McDavid and Draisaitl will both need to step up if the Oilers want to advance to Round 2. Draisaitl has recorded eight points across the first six games of this series and has posted two or more points in two of his past four outings. He’ll play alongside McDavid and Kailer Yamamoto on Edmonton’s first line.
