Gabriel Jesus ‘likely’ to join Barcelona or Juventus and Erling Haaland to Man City latest

Pep Guardiola will reportedly have his desired striker next season, with ‘everything indicating’ Erling Haaland is set to join Manchester City in July.

For the past few months, the future of the Borussia Dortmund striker has dominated the headlines. With a £63million release clause set to become active this summer, it was obvious Europe’s elite would be fighting to sign one of the most prolific forwards in the world.

It looked like City and their Champions League semi-final opponents Real Madrid were set to go head-to-head for his signature, but according to Spanish radio station El Partidazo de Cope (via Sport Witness), everything indicates that Erling Haaland will sign for City this summer, with Madrid already ‘cooling down’ their efforts to sign him.

Staying on the same lines, journalist Guillem Balague has told BBC Sport that Haaland is ‘very close’ to reaching an agreement to join City this summer.

Elsewhere, River Plate president Jorge Brito confirmed to Radio 10 in Argentina that Julian Alvarez is ‘very likely’ to join City in June instead of January. He told the local station: “We are going to give the battle until the last minute, but you cannot go against what was agreed and the player’s career.”

In January, City confirmed Alvarez had signed a five-year-deal with the club and was to be sent straight back out on loan to River Plater until at least July 2022. It was possible the deal extended due to his desire to play for Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, however Guardiola said the player would join up with City in the summer.

Moving onto potential outgoings, Lance in Brazil have reported on the future of Gabriel Jesus. On Wednesday, they claimed that if City received an ‘interesting proposal’ for the Brazilian, then the player will be allowed to leave this summer.

They have now claimed Barcelona and Juventus have both made ‘enquires’ about the 25-year-old ahead of a possible move. After over five years at the club, it looks ‘likely’ Jesus will play his football elsewhere next season.

Finally, journalist Gerard Romero has claimed City asked Barcelona for the inclusion of Frenkie de Jong in the deal for Ferran Torres. Despite being met with a swift rejection, the Blues believed it was possible due to the Catalan giants financial situation at the time.
