It’s been a devastating year for EastEnders actor Max Bowden, who is once again grieving the death of a loved one.
The 26-year-old who plays Ben Mitchell in the BBC soap posted an emotional message on Instagram on Monday (September 13).
Alongside a picture of him with Maxwell Alexander Grey Thompson, Max wrote: “Thank you for being my best friend for 15 years, for walking every avenue with me, entering into battle with me every time, lighting up my every minute of every day, and for loving me like you did.

“I will never have a better friend, and I will never love a man so much in my life. You were my soulmate, my rock, my ride or die, my everything – and I am so grateful that I got to call you my best friend.
“I am so so lucky. Junior and senior were always within two metres weren’t we, couldn’t leave each other’s side. No matter how f*****g much I tried, you’re stubborn arse had to lure me back in.”
He continued: “The hole in my life you have left will never ever be filled. I have lost my right arm, and knowing I will never be able to ring you up whilst your working with the typical ‘hello you’ terrifies me, but I have to carry on, we got a legacy to protect.
“I am gonna look after your girl, I promise. I love you. For eternity.
The soap star has suffered four losses in a year. His friend Luke Goodings died in June and his celebrity agent as well as friend, Terry Mills, passed away in February after contracting coronavirus.

In October 2020, Max revealed the sad news that his grandfather had died from cancer too.
Continuing his message about Maxwell, Max said: “Don’t know what I’m gonna do christmases to come, knowing we won’t be having a Bloody Mary and singing the pogues at 10 o clock in the morning whilst I’m nursing a hangover and you’re feeling absolutely fine despite drinking twice as much as everybody else the night before, one of your most annoying qualities.
“Thank you for showing me what loyalty truly means. For being by my side no matter what. But also the only person who could put me in my place and tell me when I was wrong lol.
“It was the privilege of my life to be your counterpart, and the junior piece of DJ M squared, we were two halves. Every memory I have of life I have shared at some point with you, I guess that’s why it’s so hard.

“I’d give anything for one last conversation about Robbie Williams live at knebworth, or to see your face as I fall down into the row in front of us at Justin Bieber, and hearing that laugh where you close your eyes and literally bellow. But mainly to hear you tell me everything is gonna be alright.”
The message finished with: “I will love you forever my beautiful brother, wherever you are now, show them what’s what. I vow to always #bemoremax .”
The star has asked: “Please can everyone just give myself, Maxwells family and friends the privacy and the space we all need to grieve.”
