Bruins vs. Hurricanes Game 7 picks: Bet on Carolina to handle its business in regulation

0

The Carolina Hurricanes host the Boston Bruins in a winner-take-all Game 7 at PNC Arena.

The pregame narrative: Led by Brad Marchand and Jeremy Swayman, the Bruins have sent the series back to Raleigh, where they’ll hope to eliminate the Hurricanes for the third time in four seasons. The home team has convincingly won each game of the series thus far, so expect the Canes to come out strong.

Here are our best Bruins vs. Hurricanes picks for Game 7 on Saturday afternoon.

Bruins vs. Hurricanes picks overview

  • Hurricanes 60-minute moneyline (+123)
  • Over 5.5 goals (-122)
  • Hurricanes -1.5 (+185)

Bruins vs. Hurricanes picks

Best bet: Hurricanes 60-minute ML (+123)

To say home ice has been an advantage in this series would be an understatement. The home team is 6-0 and has won by an average of 3.3 goals per game.

Carolina has outscored Boston 15-6 in Raleigh during these playoffs and 18-6 if you include the regular season. PNC Arena has been nothing short of a house of horrors for the B’s this year and that won’t change in an all-important Game 7.

Rod Brind’Amour has been able to stifle Boston’s stars with the last change. In the three games played in Carolina, the combo of Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak and Patrice Bergeron have combined for just two goals (both netted by Bergeron). When playing in Boston, the trio has gone off for six goals and 19 points.

Swayman will have to step it up if Boston wants any chance to steal this one. The rookie netminder gave up four goals in his last appearance at PNC before performing better at home. Still, Carolina has scored at least two goals on him in every game this series.

No games in this series have gone to overtime, so don’t bank on that happening in Game 7. Carolina sits at a slightly juiced -136 to win and a more favourable +123 to win in regulation. With the way the series has gone, expect the Canes to finish this one off in sixty minutes.

Key stat: Carolina had a +48 goal differential at home this season (tied fourth-best in NHL).

Quick picks

Over 5.5 goals (-122): Every single game in this series has gone over a 5.5 total, with an average of 6.5 goals per contest. Don’t be surprised when this turns into a barn burner.

You’d think these teams would tidy up the defence in Game 7 situations, but that’s not the case. Under the current coaching staffs — Brind’Amour for Carolina and Bruce Cassidy for Boston — three out of the four Game 7s they’ve been involved in have gone over 5.5 goals.

Hurricanes -1.5 (+185): If you’re looking for longer odds on Carolina, the puck line is the play. Carolina has won each of its home games against Boston this year by multiple goals.

The Canes have an average winning margin of 3.5 against the Bruins at PNC, so if history is any indicator, they’ll win in convincing fashion Saturday night.
